Something to Ponder

The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan Love this series! Great storyline and characters.

Fund Your Future: A Tax-Smart Savings Plan in Your 20s and 30s - Ed Slott, Jared Trexler, John McCarty, Debbie Slott Good information about IRA's and saving.

The Martian

The Martian - Andy Weir My emotions we're on a roller coaster ride and I especially enjoyed the humor. great writing and storyline for anyone who loves to read.

The Hidden Oracle

The Hidden Oracle - Rick Riordan I LOVE books about Greek Gods. The modern twist made it even better. This is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more of his books.

Handle With Care

Handle With Care - Jodi Picoult Another great book by Picoult! It tugged on my heart while making me more aware of a horrible birth defect.

The Conviction to Lead: 25 Principles for Leadership That Matters

The Conviction to Lead: 25 Principles for Leadership That Matters - R. Albert Mohler Jr. This book may have value to someone who is new to leadership as it shares general concepts and direction. I you have been managing for years you may find that there is no depth for you to expand your technique or skills.

Untitled

Untitled - Ally Condie It was not the best book of Ally Condie's that I have read; but it was cute and short. A nice beach book .

One With You

One with You (Crossfire) - Sylvia Day LOVED this book! This series was both alluring and sensual. It is not a typical love story; but a story of a deep passionate love that is so familiar and connected that it drives everything you do.

The Leadership Challenge

The Leadership Challenge - James M. Kouzes, Barry Z. Posner This is going into my personal library. It is a book that I'll use for mentoring leaders.

That Summer in Sicily: A Love Story

That Summer in Sicily: A Love Story - Marlena de Blasi It was a tough book to get into. The beginning was very vague; but once the story line appeared, it got more and more interesting. The ending was unexpected; but made the book even more appealing.

The Present : The Secret to Enjoying Your Work And Life, Now!

The Present : The Secret to Enjoying Your Work And Life, Now! - Spencer Johnson Great book! Spencer Johnson never fails in telling a meaningful story. I enjoyed every moment of the book and plan on using it for mentoring and leadership development.

If I Stay

If I Stay - Gayle Forman I had seen the movie and enjoyed it. The book was a nice companion to fill in a few areas and make them more interesting. This book was like eating candy while soaking up the sun.

Atlantia

Atlantia - Ally Condie Great storyline that drew me into their world, and made me feel like they were my family and friends. if you like hunger games types of stories, you will probably enjoy this book.

Calico Joe

Calico Joe - John Grisham It started off in a way that was hard to connect with, as it was not the traditional Grisham book. As I continental to read, I felt more engaged. The ending was predictable, yet pleasing.

The Call To Live A Symbolic Life

The Call To Live A Symbolic Life - Caroline Myss Caroline's books are like candy to the soul. They have great information that can be immediately applied and thoughts that rest with you to be revisited later. The timing of me reading this book was perfect and her message compelling.

Rising Strong

Rising Strong - Brené Brown Disappointed with this book. She has good points; yet lost me the stories she shared. On one hand I heard her say that she is rising strong, and then I hear the way that she does her self-talk. It was so full of anger and revenge. I appreciated that she shared personal experiences; but this book seemed to talk more about the negative then rising above it.

What I did get out of the book is that "everyone is doing their best", and none of us is perfect. We need to respect ourselves and others. Be brave and "rumble" to resolve conflict and hurt feelings.
